What shows do you host on KGNU and how long have you been with the station?
I’ve been DJing on KGNU for a little over 3 years. I primarily host Sleepless Nights a Friday night every couple months or so, as well as Smash it Back!, Sound Lab, and Corriente.
Who is your favorite artist and/or album of all time?
No single favorite artist, but Monster Magnet’s “Spine of God” is my all-time favorite album. I first heard “Nod Scene” on my local community radio station when I was 14 and rushed to get the entire album. Many nights I’d put the CD in the player and hit repeat and let it play all night. There’s really no other album I could have listened to that much and still want to hear it, but Spine is no typical terrestrial album, nay, it’s absolutely extraterrestrial.
What is your Zodiac sign and what (if anything) does it say about you?
Sagittarius. I don’t know, I suppose some traits track, like a tendency to stray from the pack and spending a lot of time spinning my own wheels marinating on all that is.
If you could have any musician’s record collection, whose would it be?
Joe Bussard. Just watch the documentary “Desperate Man Blues” and you’ll understand.
What song do you never get tired of playing on air?
“Higher Now” by Drakkar Nowhere. I rarely repeat tracks | play, but late night radio is my favorite and this tune is perfect for the wee hours.
What is something most people would be surprised to learn about you?
I am a trained neuroscientist in my previous life and have dissected cadavers, performed animal surgeries, and have done single cell recordings of action potentials of retinal ganglion cells in live animals.
