Sound Lab the fourth Thursday of each month and Highway 322 about once a quarter
Who is your favorite artist and/or album of all time?
Who can name just one! OK, I will say The La’s self-titled album is perfect.
What is your Zodiac sign and what (if anything) does it say about you?
Libra. I do strive for balance. I don’t believe in astrology. See? Balance!
If you could have any musician’s record collection, whose would it be?
How about Pete Seeger, because all the songs were in his head. I wish I could retain like that. I wish I had *written* Robin Hitchcock’s catalog.
What song do you never get tired of playing on air?
I almost never play a song on air more than once. Rare exceptions are “Metal” by The Beths and “Meet Me In The Garden” by Violet Bell (Lizzy Ross and Omar Ruiz-Lopez). The first is a perfect pop song about hemoglobin. The second is about love and has vocal harmonies to move you to tears. Some artists I’ve repeated: Folk Bitch Trio, Viv & Riley, Zero 7, Robyn Hitchcock, The Decemberists.
What is something most people would be surprised to learn about you?
I was in bands with a future Zen priest and, separately, with a future member of a famous “hair band”
