On a mid-July evening in 2008 we were fortunate enough to have a visit from Matmos. In setting up the studio visit before their Communikey show at the Boulder Theater we had extended the invitation for the duo to take over our airwaves for any length of time they wanted. After about an hour setting up we invited them into the studio for an interview and a quick highlight reel of their discography. Then, in the brilliance that is Matmos, M. C. Schmidt and Drew Daniel introduced the piece they were about to perform – The Backyard (Episode Seven) from Perfect Lives, an opera for television by Robert Ashley. Pure genius.
