Morning Magazine: El Niño Webinar and World Singing Day

Weather forecasters from across the country are predicting that this winter could be one of the wettest in years due to what some are calling a super El Nino. An El Nino panel discussion on this year’s potential El Nino impacts will take place Friday from 10 to 11AM in the CIRES Auditorium on the CU Boulder campus. We will have one of the participating panelists Klaus Wolter, a CIRES research meteorologist in NOAA’s Earth System Research Laboratory, in the studio to give us a sneak peek.

The webinar address ( https://cirescolorado.adobeconnect.com/_a1166535166/wwa-el-nino-10-23-2015/) will allow you to watch the panel discussion online if you can’t make it to the CU Boulder campus.

Then, Saturday from 11:30AM to 1:30PM the entire community is invited to gather in front of the Boulder Courthouse on the Pearl Street Mall to sing an eclectic mix of music for Boulder’s first World Singing Day. The event is intended to foster community as part of the UN’s 70th anniversary.

KGNU’s Maeve Conran also brings us a report about Praxus, a Denver based non-profit that helps at risk teens with ties or potential ties to the sex industry….and we’ll hear why Praxus will soon be closing its doors. (at ~25:00)
