The Boulder Municipal Airport has been a point of contention for a long time now – and especially over the past couple of years. Back in the summer of 2023, the City attempted to aid in the debate over the airport’s future by hosting a series of community conversations. That attempt didn’t exactly pan out – folks are still heated, and a balance between protecting community members’ health, appeasing government regulatory forces that have other interests in mind, and making local recreational pilots happy has not been found.
There were going to be two ballot measures during last November’s election related to decommissioning the airport and building affordable housing; however, those were taken off the ballot last minute due to the City of Boulder’s lawsuit against the FAA.
Hep Ingham is a community member whose home neighbors the airport. He has been an outspoken critic of the airport for a while now, and a loud advocate for change in the name of public health and safety.
KGNU’s Jackie Sedley sat down with Ingham recently to learn more about his concerns.
