Environmental Activists Call On Biden And Polis To Declare A Climate Emergency

Marshal Fire victims and environmental advocacy groups gathered yesterday in a charred former neighborhood of Superior to bring attention to the need for climate action. The organizations sponsoring the Colorado action: Colorado Coalition for a Livable Climate (a coalition of 45 organizations working together to advocate for strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions to a level supportive of a livable climate), 350 Colorado, Clean Energy Action, Green Latinos, Save EPA

One participant, an 11-year-old girl named Madhvi Chittoor, gave a speech urging government leaders to not only declare a Climate Emergency but also call President Biden to use executive powers to address the worsening climate crisis. Event organizers say that an official declaration would enable the president and Governor Polis to make real climate progress and transition to renewable energy.

KGNU’s Rossana Longo Better has the story.
