Colorado Well-Represented in Global Divestment Day: Groups Target Fossil Fuels

Fifty-eight cities worldwide took part in Global Divestment Day events. In Colorado, actions took place at Regis University in Denver, Colorado State University in Ft Collins, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, University of Denver, at Resource Capital Funds in Denver and at CU Boulder.

At CU Boulder, students of Fossil Free CU called for the Board of Regents to divest from the fossil fuel industry.  Currently the University of Colorado invests $27 million in fossil fuels.  Students from Fossil Free CU have expressed an intention to escalate actions this spring in attempt to “block business as usual.”

For Global Divestment Day, students at CU-Boulder held a panel discussion and then marched on campus.
