UN Climate Talks Wrap up in Geneva

They are being dubbed “The Spirit of Geneva” where observers are coming out of the UN Climate talks in Geneva with something that we haven’t been able to report for many years: optimism.  Where years of what has been named a failure in reaching an agreement between countries that are involved in the climate negotiations, observers are naming the Great Climate March in New York in September of 2014 and the Global Divestment movement as key events that are moving countries to act on climate change.

Climate Action Network –CAN holds regular press briefings at the climate talks as observers. CAN includes 900 NGOs that promote government and individual action to limit human-induced climate change to ecologically sustainable levels. On Friday, when the climate talks wrapped up, Julie-Ann Richards of the Climate Justice Programme, Jamie Henn, Strategy and Communications Director of 350.org, and Tasneem Essop, World Wildlife Fund gave their wrap up of the talks via webcast.
