Since becoming law nine years ago Republicans have tried to reverse the Affordable Care Act, but local state-run healthcare leadership is staying the course. “We really want to reassure customers that regardless of any ruling the marketplace in Colorado is still stable and strong and we’re open for business,” says Caballeros.

People who have pre-existing conditions have additional coverage protection under state law so according to Caballeros, “all of the customers who are shopping for 2020 can rest assured that the financial help, as well as all the plan protections and benefits, are going to remain in place.”

Coloradoan’s still looking for healthcare are still able to sign up for a plan through Connect for Health Colorado until January 15th, 2020, with coverage for those signing up after the 1st starting coverage on February 1st.

Connect for Health Colorado Resources:

Many are drawn to Connect for Health Colorado because state-run healthcare marketplaces offer subsidies. Caballeros says, “So far in 2020, 68% of people who come through Connect for Health Colorado are qualifying for financial help and the financial help comes in the form of a premium tax credit.”

After entering personal information like the number of people living in the household, zip code and projected annual income, an applicant may qualify for a tax credit that can discount the monthly cost of any level healthcare plan.

Along the Front Range, Connect for Health Colorado offers around 100 different plans.

Anyone who experiences a “life change event” and needs to change their coverage after the January 15th deadline can access the marketplace year-round.
