Celebrating the Beesafe movement in Boulder.

“We feel that this is a movement that will keep going.”

In 2014 a group of neighbors in the Melody Catalpa neighborhood in North Boulder got together to take a pledge not to use pesticides that were harmful to bees. The beesafe movement has grown in the city where 3 neighborhoods are now officially beesafe with more than 1000 homes taking the beesafe pledge, pledging not to use neonicotinoid pesticides.
In May of this year the city of Boulder became beesafe, pledging not to use neonics on public land.

David Wheeler with Beesafe Boulder says the grassroots movement is a way that you can enable people to take control over their environment and make a statement. “We feel that this is a movement that will keep going.”

Beesafe Boulder is hosting a celebration on Saturday August 8th from 4-6pm, at the home of Mike Merritt and Susan Brooks in North Boulder, 3373 4th Street.
