The legislation would put a fee on fossil fuels like coal, oil, and gas. which aims to drive down carbon pollution because energy companies, leading industries, and American consumers will move toward cleaner, cheaper options. The money collected from the carbon fee is allocated in equal shares every month to the American people to spend as they see fit. Program administrative costs are paid from the fees collected. The government does not keep any of the money from the carbon fee.

We are joined in the studio for a discussion on the legislation by Heather Bird Jackson from the Denver chapter of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby and David Kline of the Boulder CCL chapter.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby is a non-profit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy organization focused on national policies to address climate change.
