Broadside: The Musical Explores the Power of Art During the American Revolution

To kick off their 2026 Edinburgh Fringe run, “Broadside: the Musical” will be at Vintage Theatre in Aurora July 3, 5, 17, 18 and 19th.

Timed for the 250th anniversary of the founding of the nation, “Broadside: the Musical” tells the story of the Sons of Liberty in Boston, during the stirring of the revolution, and the complex loyalties of Margaret Gage and her husband general Thomas Gage at a time where Americans learned how much politics can be life and death and art stirred the fire of revolution.

KGNU’s Veronica Straight-Lingo spoke with Producer and Playwright April Alsup, about the show, and April begins by talking about what exactly a Broadside was at the time of the American Revolution.
