Boulder County Commissioners extend fracking moratorium

The Boulder County Commissioners voted this morning to extend the current moratorium on oil and gas development in the county for another 3 1/2 years through June 30, 2018.

Boulder County Commissioner Elise Jones told KGNU that fracking is a priority concern for the residents of Boulder County.

Razz Gormley with Frack Free Colorado said he was excited and energized by today’s decision but he says permanent change on fracking regulations needs to occur.

Boulder County Commissioner Deb Gardner says that the moratorium is just one action that the community in Boulder County can take to reduce carbon use.
