Pediatrician and public health advocate Mona Hanna-Attisha, author of “What The Eyes Don’t See. A Story Of Crisis, Resistance, And Hope In An American City,” put the recent lead-tainted public water supply in Flint, Michigan on the national news.

She says her story is one of a government poisoning its own citizens and then lying about it. But the citizen involvement of Dr. Mona and other everyday citizens banning together with public officials to fix the problem has turned this saga into a story of hope.
