The Fisk Jubilee Singers are the holders of quite a legacy. Begun in 1871, the ensemble traveled to locations where they were not permitted to board overnight due to the rampant segregation during that time. The Grammy-winning Fisk Jubilee Singers, then and now, are an a cappella chorale whose repertoire includes spirituals; the inimitable music that captures the soul and beating-heart of the Black experience both here in what became known as the United States, and throughout the Black Diaspora. Dr. Paul Kwami, Music Director of the Fisk Jubilee Singers, will tell us about the amazing and  enduring legacy of this lauded group and share stories from his life in music.
