Black Talk: Juneteenth in Boulder County Shannon Young

(Download Audio)

Juneteenth is celebrated throughout the country and also in Boulder County. This year’s commemoration includes county-wide flag raisings, proclamation readings, honoring Black Excellence in the form of special recognition of Black Boulder County high school graduates, workshops, music and more.

Our guests represent some of the voices who have been at the center of planning this year’s multi-day event. We will discuss what’s in store for Boulder County’s Juneteenth celebrants, and we learn about our guests’ experiences and remembrances of the nation’s newly-minted national holiday and Colorado’s 11th official state holiday.

Hear last year’s Black Talk interview with Ms. Opal Lee.
