Saikat Majumdar is the author, most recently, of “Play House”, a novel about a young boy’s destructive obsession with theater and his mother’s life as a stage actress. The novel, a finalist for the Bangalore Literature Festival Fiction Prize and the Mumbai Film Festival Word to Screen Market, is currently being developed into a screenplay. Majumdar is also the author of a monograph, “Prose of the World”, and a previous novel, “Silverfish”.
He is Professor of English and Creative Writing at Ashoka University in India, and a Fellow at the Newhouse Center for the Humanities at Wellesley College for 2017-18.
In After Hours at the Bookclub live from the ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival in Boulder, he shares his thoughts on teaching creative writing and the challenges and opportunities of having his novel turned into a movie.

ZEE JLF at Boulder happens at the Boulder Public Library September 15-17th.
The radio bookclub is a collaboration between KGNU and the Boulder Bookstore and is co-hosted by KGNU News Director Maeve Conran and Arsen Kashkashian, head buyer at the Boulder Bookstore. Each month, Arsen selects a book to inspire listeners to read along together. The author will then join us in-studio for a discussion.
