Affordable Housing in Boulder County

“Folks that are looking at a more modest income and a more affordable rent are having more and more trouble finding that.”

Erin Ganser, Development Project Manager with the Boulder County Housing Authority says that they’re hearing from people in the county that the lack of affordable rental housing in the county is reaching a crisis point due to a lack of available housing and rising rents. Louisville is particularly hard hit with a record low 3.2% vacancy rate with rising rents. BCHA Housing Development Manager Norrie Boyd says people are moving further and further east in Boulder County looking for affordable rents, and that formerly affordable communities like Lafayette, Louisville and Longmont are now out of the price range of many renters.
