Actions At Machu Picchu Ruins Ahead of Lima Climate Change Conference

The direct actions got started ahead of the UN climate talks and the Machu Picchu ruins was the site of one organized by Greenpeace.  Holding actions inside of the climate talks has been met in the past with various amounts of repression where some activists have been led out of the conference by police and stripped of their credentials.

But the ancient ruins in Peru where the talks are being held were out of the control of the United Nations for this particular direct action.  On Sunday, Greenpeace staged a light brigade calling for renewable energy and a deadline for commitments.
