On a Cinco de Mayo afternoon Calexico & Mariachi Luz de Luna were gracious enough to stop by our studios for a live session in advance of their show that night at Tulagi. Unlike the venue they would perform at that evening, this little piece of musical history has not been lost to the sands of time. Despite being up until close to 4:00 am the previous night celebrating with the staff of The Bluebird theater following their Denver performance, the musicians were full of energy. Calexico & Mariachi Luz de Luna treated the radio listeners of Colorado to an extended intimate set of music for which we’re all still very grateful. (From May 5, 2002)
