Hundreds of Tesla Takedown protests take place across the US

Last Saturday was the Tesla Takedown, a national protest against billionaire Elon Musk and his role in the newly-created Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE.

Protestors gathered at Tesla dealerships and service centers all across the country, in cities large and small. Event organizers say that Musk, under President Donald Trump, is using his Tesla fortune to destroy American democracy.

In just a few months, Musk and DOGE have shut down entire agencies, in the name of slashing government spending. They’ve also gained access to sensitive data on American citizens, according to the Associated Press.

Saturday’s protests included peaceful demonstrations at all 277 U.S. Tesla locations.

Locally, hundreds of people gathered just off of Tesla property in Superior. As passing cars honked horns in support, they carried signs that said “Deport Elon,” “Tesla Drives Fascism,” “DOGE is Stealing From You,” and “We Will Not Be Silent.”

KGNU had several reporters there, including KGNU’s John Kelin and Don Davis. Some of the demonstrators were reluctant to give us their full names, so they aren’t identified in what you’re about to hear. The first speaker is one of the event organizers, a woman named Ray.
