Sixth graders hand-deliver personalized thank you cards to Rocky Mountain National Park staff

Sixth graders from Shining Mountain Waldorf School, or SMWS, in North Boulder are hand-delivering personalized thank you cards today to National Park Service staff at Rocky Mountain National Park’s Beaver Meadows Visitors Center.

Their initial plan was to journey to the park for a ranger-led winter ecology snowshoe trip, and they’re still doing that today. But in light of the Trump administration’s mass firings of federal employees across the country, they decided to make the trip a bit more personalized. Their cards recognize the vital role rangers and park staff play in protecting public lands, providing educational experiences, and more.

Shining Mountain Waldorf School K-12 emphasizes environmental stewardship and outdoor education as key components of its curriculum. KGNU’s Jackie Sedley spoke with seven kids from the 6th-grade class at SMWS who wrote cards to hand deliver today.
