2023 Legislative Session Brought New Gun Safety Laws To Colorado

Lawmakers passed, and Governor Jared Polis signed into law, at least four major pieces of gun safety legislation this session. New laws include raising the minimum age to buy a firearm to twenty-one, and an Extreme Risk Protection Order, or “red flag,” law, that expands those who can petition to keep guns from the hands of those deemed a risk to themselves or others.

News Director Shannon Young spoke with Eileen McCarron of Colorado Ceasefire of what did – and did not – make it through the legislature this session.
