According to the Outdoor Foundation, women and girls take part in outdoor recreation activities at significantly lower rates than their male counterparts. Time in the outdoors is even scarcer for those experiencing racial, socioeconomic, and other intersectional discriminations.
KGNU’s Stacie Johnson spoke with Kriste Peoples, Executive Director of Women’s Wilderness, a Boulder-based non-profit that provides outdoor experiences for girls, women, and LGTBQ+ individuals of all backgrounds.
