The opening night of the Colorado Environmental Film Festival marked a special moment as the festival celebrated its 20th anniversary, bringing together filmmakers, community leaders, and innovators committed to environmental storytelling. KGNU’s DeRae Logan spoke with Dr. Mija Hubler, a professor at CU Boulder who is featured in the opening film Women of Carbon, which highlights women leading the way in reducing carbon emissions through innovation in materials and design.

DeRae also spoke up with Shawna Crockett, co-founder of the Colorado Environmental Film Festival, to discuss the heart behind the festival and what it means to reach this 20-year milestone. From cutting-edge climate solutions to the power of community-driven storytelling, the night was a reminder of how impactful these conversations can be when the community makes space for them.
