Denver trumpeter Ron Miles plays inside a big, old empty water tank in Rangeley, Colorado. There is a reverberant quality to this tank that musicians say is unlike any other space in the world. A new nonprofit is raising funds to make the tank more accessible to sonic explorers from far and wide…as well as to the community of Rangley, a small town in a remote corner of northwest Colorado.
Musician and sound artist Bruce Odland first discovered the tank in the 1970’s. He’s leading a kickstarter funding campaign called “Open the Tank”. He spoke with KGNU’s Sam Fuqua. Bruce Odland describes what makes this tank unique:
