Understanding Africa

“I think that it is a global community we live in today. We want to bring that news and information so the public has a better grasp of what is going on in the African continent in the 21st Century.”

Linking the state of Colorado to the state of affairs in Africa is the mission of Africa Agenda, a Denver-based nonprofit organization founded by George Bamu in 2004. Bamu says that there are many positive events taking place on the African continent, from advances in healthcare and addressing poverty to technology booms that are enabling modern modes of communication and new business opportunities. Bamu hopes that Africa Agenda can highlight these modern developments as a way to better inform the world on positive events in Africa and to encourage collaboration amongst the global community he says we are all members of.

Africa Agenda is hosting a meeting on these, and other, issues on Nov. 20, 2015 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Posner Center for International Development in Denver. Bamu says the meeting is designed to raise awareness of positive economic opportunities and cultural developments in African and to encourage the involvement of those in Colorado.

“We want to bring the community to participate in that development that is going on in the African continent.”
