Town of Erie became a home rule municipality, what does it mean for residents?

For the first time in history, the town of Erie’s residents will be voting on a ballot that is part of a home rule municipality.

Up until last year, Erie was one of a handful of communities in Colorado who had not yet moved to home rule. Home rule gives local governments more autonomy over local issues, and less reliance on state statutes.
