Local eco-attorney calls efforts to halt wolf reintroduction “directly antithetical” to what Colorado voters want

Today, Colorado Parks and Wildlife will meet and respond to a petition to halt wolf reintroduction. Gray wolves have been a contentious topic in Colorado since 10 of the species were reintroduced back in December of 2023, under voter-approved Proposition 114.

The petition is led by a group of 26 ranching and farming groups, which – if approved – would prevent CPW from introducing additional wolves indefinitely until several conditions are met.

Attorney Tom Delehanty joined KGNU’s Jackie Sedley on the Morning Magazine to talk about those conditions, and what a delay of more wolves could mean for the state of Colorado. Delehanty spoke on behalf of Earthjustice, a nonprofit that provides free environmental counsel to conservation groups and others seeking to promote environmental justice.
