Tech Talks: OtterCares Ornament Project

This is the third year that Innovation Center students have worked with OtterCares Foundation, a division of OtterBox.  Jessica Stiles of OtterProducts/OtterCares stopped by to visit and interview the team on the 2016 ornament project.  We had the opportunity to visit with Jessica and get her feedback on the scope of the project.

This year, Innovation Students on the Machine Team have been asked to produce 1,500 ornaments for OtterCares.  The students developed the design, bid the project, develop a scope of work and ensure that production is on time and meets the needs of the client.  Students not only get the opportunity to utilize high end machinery, they get to help other schools and students in need of technology.  The technology used for this project involves the use of software for business operations, design aspects and connection to the industrial laser engraver at the Innovation Center.  Students also created the assembly process, count process and packaging for the ornaments and final delivery.

Steven Lamp, Skyline HS Senior, spoke with Jessica Stiles from OtterCares and a few students at the Innovation Center. You can find more information about OtterCares at http://www.ottercares.org.
