North High School English teacher Tim Hernández has been placed on administrative leave for the remainder of the school year after joining a student-led walk out protesting the school’s decision not to renew his contract.
On Friday morning, parents, teachers and other community members encircled students to provide an extra layer of protection as they all marched from Viking Park to La Raza Park – a gathering place for celebration of Chicano culture on Denver’s North Side.
