The Charles Sawtelle Memorial Mountain Jam, aka “The Charles,” is named in honor of Hot Rize guitarist Charles Sawtelle who co-founded the event in 1989. After his passing in 1999, the station renamed the event in his memory.
Celebrating its 37th anniversary, “The Charles” is a family-friendly mini-festival of Bluegrass and Americana music. It targets music lovers who relish the fresh mountain air and like to listen to stellar acoustic music in a spectacular outdoor setting that only a former Colorado mining town like Gold Hill can provide.
No dogs, coolers, or outside alchohol. Low back chairs ok.
Proceeds from this event benefit KGNU, your independent community-powered, listener-supported community radio station, broadcasting since 1978.
