The 4th annual Soil Revolution conference happens today in Boulder bringing farmers and ranchers together with experts to talk about ways to improve soil health. Healthy soil can play a key role in mitigating some of the impacts of the climate crisis due to its potential to capture carbon from the atmosphere.
Elizabeth Black is one of the local soil experts who will be presenting at today’s conference. She heads up the Citizen Science Soil Health Project.

Soil Revolution Conference in Boulder Maeve Conran
“There’s a huge range of [local] soil health scores…we should feel really proud of our high scores because they’re doing really well… But, there is a lot of room for improvement in our lower-scoring fields. The fact that we can get higher scoring scores here in Colorado is very hopeful because it means that it is possible to improve our soil health and sequester more carbon in our soil.” – Elizabeth Black of Citizen Science Soil Health Project
