Host Elise Matatall speaks with Carissa Chen, co-founder of the Alana Faith Chen Foundation. The Alana Faith Chen Foundation came out of the loss of Carissa’s younger sister, Alana, a 24-year-old Colorado woman who died by suicide following years of conversion therapy unknown to her family. Alana’s passing in December 2019 really shook a whole community and many have been grappling with this loss. This episode is to honor her and to highlight the importance of creating affirming therapeutic spaces for LGBTQ* young people as a form of suicide prevention.
