I lost my brother Steve in Vietnam on his first day in combat, his 11th day in country. Last summer, I found a treasure trove featuring his letters home from Vietnam, right up to the day before he was killed in his role of an RTO, a radio telephone operator, a very dangerous position. With the help of KGNU News Director Jackie Sedley, I have put together this tribute with material from the folder I found, some music of Steve singing and playing piano and excerpts from the letters. It’s one person’s story to remind us of the almost 60,000 American soldiers who were lost in that war and the depth of that loss.
