Leland Rucker, Sensi magazine senior editor takes a look at how states are reacting to Attorney General Jeff Sessions statements on cannabis.

Sessions has said that he disapproves of cannabis use. “I believe it’s an unhealthy practice, and current levels of THC in marijuana are very high compared to what they were a few years ago, and we’re seeing real violence around that.”

Elevan Senators, including Colorado US Senator Michael Bennett and a lone Republican (Lisa Murkowski of Alaska) have signed a letter saying they will oppose any federal intervention into their states into something that is legal in their states.

Colorado US Senator Gardner did not sign the letter, but said in a recent telephone town hall meeting that he had spoken to AG Sessions about the issue. Senator Gardner said he was under the impression that Sessions would not interfere with states with legal marijuana.

Washington’s Governor Jay Inslee has vowed to go to court if there is any federal intervention into state marijuana laws.
