Schools that will remain open Thursday amid rally for K-12 funding

Over 100 schools in Denver will be closed tomorrow, as many teachers, educators, and students plan to attend a rally at the Capitol. The statewide day of action is for teachers and educators to protest the state’s funding of K-12 schools.

The event will be led by the Colorado Education Association, the state’s largest teachers union. While some districts are on spring break right now, others have canceled all classes district-wide. Those include Boulder Valley School District, Adams 12 Five Star Schools, and the Aspen School District. The Denver Post reports that a number of employees have already called out of work to attend tomorrow’s rally.

Boulder Valley School District alone reported over 600 staff absences district-wide. DPS will keep 30 district-run schools open with the help of substitutes and central office employees.
