Resistance Radio: Nuns on the Bus arrive in Aurora

The Nuns on the Bus, a group of catholic sisters, are crossing the US on a tour to raise awareness of the impact of the GOP tax cuts.  Just weeks ahead of the mid-term elections, the nuns are holding public gatherings and trying to meet with elected officials.  Sister Simone Campbell, SSS, executive director of NETWORK Lobby for Catholic Social Justice, which launched the first Nuns on the Bus tour during the 2012 presidential campaign told KGNU that they are hoping to meet with GOP representative Mike Coffman at his Aurora office on Monday morning.

“The tax bill that was passed by the Congress in December is going to have significant impact on the people of Colorado and this story is missing and this is why we’re on the road.”

Coffman voted in favor of the GOP tax bill, which gave large tax breaks to the wealthy. “Congressman Coffman was in favor of it, voted for it and voted against the Affordable Care Act, so the combination is that he voted to shift money to the top and hurt ordinary working class folk as well as taking healthcare away.”

After Colorado the nuns head to Nebraska and Iowa.
