Resistance Radio: Indivisible Front Range Resistance

Activists in Boulder County as part of Indivisible Front Range Resistance, are targeting Senator Cory Gardner with video messages asking him questions that they would like to ask him in person, if only he’d host a town hall meeting.

More than 250 constituents recorded themselves asking Gardner a question as part of the #WheresCory campaign.

Katherine Farnan of Indivisible Front Range Resistance, which has about 4000 members in its Facebook group, says that videos are a way for people to have their concerns heard.

“We put those things out and it’s not just a gimmick. We don’t have a platform like Senator Gardner does. We can’t just snap our fingers and have everybody listen to us, so we have to pool together and when we pool together the hope is that if 250 of us are asking a question, that he would take time and listen.”

The project was born out of frustration of the lack of in-person town halls with the Senator. “That happened over April recess when Senator Gardner was going from bank to chamber of commerce, to fundraiser, all behind closed doors. Nobody from the public was allowed in unless you paid to get in and even in that case you may not have been able to actually reach him. As a backdrop people were even more incensed and really wanting to reach out because closed door meetings are not a townhall and you’re kidding yourself if you think it is.”

Farnan says that Indivisible Front Range Resistance is also focusing its energy on state wide and local politics. “One thing I think is true of the progressive movement is that we’re not ok with the status quo and that spans across every area, and so what we’ve seen is a lot of activists come out that have been working on state issues reminding us that state issues are extremely important and that all politics is local. ”
