For almost 40 years, Rupert Murdoch’s rightwing propaganda network has lied to the American people, brainwashing millions and setting the stage for a GOP billionaire coup. Ongoing petitions

What: Urge Congress to Protect Public Media Funding

Link(s): https://protectmypublicmedia.org/urge-congress-email/

Why: “Urge Congress to protect and sustain the essential funding that keeps public media accessible and strong. Send a message to your lawmakers now.”

What: Tell Congress: STOP the Musk Budget

Link(s): https://www.commoncause.org/actions/tell-congress-stop-the-musk-budget/

Why: We’re sending a clear message to Congress: With government funding running out soon, Congress must seize this opportunity to exercise its power as a co-equal branch of government and STOP Elon Musk’s hostile takeover. The truth is, Musk is already trying to shut down our government, one mass firing or one shuttered agency at a time. Following the same playbook as previous government funding fights is effectively co-signing Musk’s looting of our federal government. Our Constitution is clear: Congress controls the “power of the purse” and how our tax dollars are spent – not the president, and certainly not an unelected, unconfirmed billionaire like Elon Musk. We must treat this like the constitutional crisis it is. If you agree Congress can’t just sit back and watch Musk hijack our government, join us to speak out. Add your name to tell Congress to STOP the dangerous Musk budget.”

What: Free Jeanette Vizguerra

Link(s): https://secure.afsc.org/a/freejeanette?fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAafzS46VURtWkuQfLP8-eWv4iW4GXwntTcWdzoMFyU6V-EYkTiGIrBFrcZaFBA_aem_HhyGVdkbLMebUryr3qvE3Q

Why: Jeanette Vizguerra, a Colorado community leader and mother, has led the fight against her own deportation since 2009. She is the mother of four children – one of whom is a permanent resident, and the other three are U.S. citizens — as well as a grandmother. ICE detained Ms. Vizguerra without warning on March 17, 2025. The agency appears to be readying to deport her, despite not possessing a valid deportation order. As of 10:15am on Tuesday, March 18, she continues to be detained inside GEO. Her attorneys have raised concerns about serious legal errors. If ICE does not change course, they will be ripping her away from her family and community without any concern for her due process rights.”

What: Congress: Save Medicaid Now

Link(s): https://action.aclu.org/send-message/congress-save-medicaid-now

Why: “Medicaid is a lifeline for people with disabilities. It pays for mental health services and provides treatment for opioid use disorder. Millions of disabled people depend on Medicaid for services that allow them to live and work in their communities instead of in dehumanizing institutions. Medicaid allows direct care workers, predominantly women of color, to provide seniors and disabled people help with all aspects of daily living so they can be safe at home and live with dignity.”
