OutSources – Civil Rights: Journey from Alabama with a stop in Denver

Dr Glenda Russell and Dr Janis Bohan discuss a recent Civil Rights conference centered in Alabama. We trace the through line from slavery to Jim Crow segregation to laws and policies leading to mass incarceration. We discuss the need to expand our understanding of history and civil rights movements and what they can teach us now. We end with a brief look at last week’s example of an attack on civil rights: six anti-LGBTQ proposed Colorado laws effectively quashed in committee.
