OutSources: Amber Cantorna and “Refocusing My Family”

Amber Cantorna was home-schooled and raised in the “purity culture” of New Life, a conservative, evangelical church with a father who is a 30 year career executive of the anti-gay organization, Focus on the Family. After she came out she was shunned by her family, friends, and church.

In her book “Refocusing My Family: Coming Out, Being Cast Out and Discovering the True Love of God”, we hear how she battled her way back to finding a new church, creating a new family and friendship network with her wife, Clara, writing a memoir, and founding a new organization, Beyond, to help others searching for a way to be queer and keep their faith.
