Oniria Tango Translates Dance Into Visual Art

The 2016 Natural Tango Festival, in collaboration with Parasol Arts and Community-Minded Dance presented a special, three day public event around the marvelous visual, musical and performance art of Tango.

It’s called Oniria Tango, and during this event, Dancers translated into movement a life-sized mural painted by artist Jorge Muscia live on the stage. The event was Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 18th through the 20th at the Cleo Parker Robinson Theatre in Denver.

Then, on Sunday, the 24th, the final painting was displayed at the closing milonga, taking place in the Colorado Ballet’s blackbox theater in Denver! KGNU’s Veronica Straight-Lingo had the chance to speak with Deanna Cruz, the director of Oniria Tango, about the show and about the Natural Tango Festival.
