For over 50 years the NCAR Community Art Program has presented art exhibitions by a range of regional artists at the NCAR Mesa Laboratory in Boulder, CO. Each year, hundreds of artists from the Rocky Mountain region, and beyond, participate in the jury process from which artists are selected for individual and group exhibitions.
For June and July Robert Castellino and Jeff Richards will display their work. Castellino has published five photographic story and guide books about Colorado. His latest book release is, “Colorado: Life and Light on the Land,”—a limited edition collectable and many of the photos from the book, of dramatic landscapes in Colorado and National Parks in the American West, are on display at NCAR. He is the founder of Climate Colorado and gave the TEDx Talk “Solving the Climate Crisis by Rapid Prototyping Solutions.” An aerial photograph of his is on permanent exhibit at Smithsonian Institutes’ Gems and Geology in Washington, DC.
Denver artist Jeff Richards has created sculptural 2D works that move the viewer beyond the flat surfaces into inter-dimensional, almost galactic spaces, creating a highly dimensional visual journey.
Richards incorporates meticulously stretched threads over painted surfaces to create luminous and spatially intriguing artworks. Richards describes the act of creating his work as, “a kind of weaving in meditation, a slow dancing meditation.
