So many other excellent albums to add: Patrick Dethlefs “Patty”, Laura Stevenson “Late Great”, Holly Lovell “Hello Chelsea”, The Antlers “Blight”, Flyte “Between You and Me”, and Georgia Harmer “Eye of the Storm”!
2025 was another great year for music, at least. I have been listening to Ken Pomeroy’s and Anna Tivel’s albums non-stop; both are beautiful and lush to hear, with so much depth and thought to the lyrics that I hear something new every time. I listened to a lot of folk-adjacent this year, like always, and there are so much fresh sounds here. While Activity, Kathryn Josephs both created really interesting electronic/post-punk albums that are incredibly interesting and creative. And Daughter of Swords’s new album is so much a departure from her first sparce indie-folk, now more like fun Sylvan Esso.
