KGNU’s Elena Klaver spoke with Patricia Irby, Executive Director of Musical Ambassadors of Peace, and musician Pete Jacobs about the organization’s mission to build cross-cultural connections through music and movement. Their work supports vulnerable populations, including refugees in Uganda and asylum seekers at the Mexico border.
They are hosting a fundraiser, “Melody Night,” on Saturday, April 12th, at the Boulder Mennonite Church, featuring Middle Eastern music and dance performances, including renowned belly dancer Sadie Marquardt and musicians from the Middle Eastern music community.
Additionally, they are offering a training program, “Resilience Through Joy,” from May 2-4 in Longmont, focused on facilitating drum circles and community music-making with trauma sensitivity. More details and tickets are available at musicalambassadorsofpeace.org.
