Interview: Catherine Jackson and Eton Pearcy

DJ Soul Rock speaks with Catherine Jackson of the Colorado Caribbean Social Club and Eton Pearcy of Jam Rock Events about their community-led relief efforts following the recent hurricane in Jamaica. Both guests describe the severe conditions on the ground, the urgent need for supplies, and the overwhelming support coming from Colorado’s Caribbean community, local businesses, and restaurants. They share details about two upcoming donation drives in Denver and Lone Tree, where all proceeds and collected goods will go directly toward recovery efforts and an ongoing breakfast program for students in Jamaica. Catherine and Eton also highlight their upcoming trip to Jamaica to distribute aid and assess long-term rebuilding needs. The conversation centers on resilience, community solidarity, and the shared commitment to supporting Jamaican families during a critical time (11/8/2025).

DJ Soul Rock: All right, all right, y’all. We have some very special guests. We have Catherine from the Colorado Caribbean Social Club and Eaton from Jam Rock Events. Can you hear me?

Catherine Jackson: Yes, we can hear you.

DJ Soul Rock: Awesome. Thank you so much for taking the time to call in. Our whole community has had Jamaica in our hearts and minds after the hurricane, and I know the Colorado Caribbean Social Club and Jam Rock are partnering to put on some events to help rebuild. Would you mind introducing yourselves? Catherine, would you like to go first?

Catherine Jackson: Sure. I am Catherine Jackson, a member of the Colorado Caribbean Social Club, and we’re so grateful, Chris, for having us on the show today.

DJ Soul Rock: Thank you so much for all you do. Eaton, would you introduce yourself as well?

Eton Pearcy: I’m Pearcy, founder of Jam Rock Events here in Colorado. I’m always grateful for the opportunity to chat with you, Chris, and I thank you for seeing the value in having this conversation about the project we’re working on.

DJ Soul Rock: Thank you. A lot of listeners know you from bringing Sizzla to town for that amazing show in September, which also raised funds for the Partial Incentive Breakfast Program in Jamaica. I was really surprised by how much you raised. Would you like to share?

Eton Pearcy: We’ve raised one million Jamaican dollars so far, which is great. We look forward to continuing that mission to reach the amount needed to start the program in January. The hurricane slowed things down a bit, but we’re still pushing that agenda along with relief efforts.

DJ Soul Rock: Thank you. I’m amazed at your ability to pivot and respond to the need. How are things on the ground right now in Jamaica?

Catherine Jackson: We’re giving thanks for life, but it’s not good. We’ve been getting many calls, videos, and images of what’s really happening, and what we see on social media doesn’t compare. It’s hard. But we are coming together as a community, and we’re grateful that our Colorado community is standing with us.

We’ve had so much support for the two upcoming drives this weekend and next weekend. People are coming out to donate. Jamaican Jerk and Barbecue, Reggae Pots, and Cuba Bakery and Cafe are providing all the food free of charge—that’s their donation. The real estate community has also stepped up. The Brianna Group, Refined Residence Real Estate, Real Makers, and Central Park Mortgage have given us venues for free. Business Foundry as well. Laurie Pace has donated time and resources. We’re super grateful.

Tomorrow we’re having a brunch focused on collecting donations. All money from the brunch goes directly to the fund—no expenses are taken out. Next week in Lone Tree we’ll have another collection drive. Four of us are going to Jamaica the week of the 20th to hand out supplies and assess which communities and projects we will adopt to see everything through. There is so much that needs to be done.

DJ Soul Rock: Yes, so much. And this weekend and next weekend are great places to start. November 9th at the Central Park Gallery on Northfield Boulevard in Denver, and November 15th in Lone Tree at the Business Foundry. If people want to stay connected and follow your progress, what’s the best place?

Catherine Jackson: All information is on our website: ColoradoCaribbeanSocialClub.org. That’s the best place to connect with us.

DJ Soul Rock: Wonderful. I’ll be down there as well and look forward to seeing the community support after such a tragedy. Thank you, Catherine.

Catherine Jackson: We’re looking forward to having you.

DJ Soul Rock: Thank you so much. I know it’s hard when it’s your home, your family, and you’re trying to help from a distance. Thank you for your resilience and for organizing this. Please keep us updated on how we can continue to support.

Catherine Jackson: We will. Thank you so much for having us.

DJ Soul Rock: Thank you.

Eton Pearcy: I want to end on this note: thank you, Chris. Thank you to Blood Pressure, Chris Milly, and everyone in the entertainment space who has played a song that reflects Jamaica. You’ve been instrumental in allowing my brand to continue in Colorado. We’ve seen the interest, the need for the music, and most importantly, the support. I hope we can continue growing together with what we’ve been doing.

DJ Soul Rock: Thank you so much, Eaton. Perfect way to end. We’re all in this together—out of many, one. We’ll get through this together. Thank you for calling in.

Catherine Jackson: Thank you. Respect.

DJ Soul Rock: Much respect. We’ll see you this weekend and next weekend.

Catherine Jackson: See you tomorrow.

DJ Soul Rock: Have a blessed day. Thank you for your time.

Catherine Jackson: Blessings.

Eton Pearcy: Bye-bye.
