DJ: PiSa, The Evening Star
What shows do you host on KGNU and how long have you been with the station?
I have been on-air at KGNU for 1 year.
I usually host the Afternoon Sound Alternative and Sound Lab but occasionally fill in on the Morning Sound Alternative and The Heavy Set; and when I’m desperate for a slot, I’ll do a Sleepless Nights.
Who is your favorite artist and/or album of all time?
My favorite artist of all time is Cezanne. But if we’re talking music, then let’s say The Beatles. No wait, the Grateful Dead. Uh, sorry, can I say Grizzly Bear? What about Brian Eno?
Favorite album of all time: perhaps “Live Dead” by the Grateful Dead
What is your Zodiac sign and what (if anything) does it say about you?
All my life I’ve been an Aries, but you know they recently updated the Zodiac dates, so now I’m a late Pisces – maybe that’s why I’m Pis(ces)A(ries).
If you could have any musician’s record collection, whose would it be?
If you’ve ever seen Paul Epstein’s (Former owner/founder of Twist & Shout and regular host for the Grateful Dead special on KGNU) collection, then you’ll know why I would have his.
What song do you never get tired of playing on air?
I never repeat a song on my shows and I don’t play anything prior to this year with the exception of my usual segment called “The Play Back, aka Back Trackin’ with PiSa,” however, on my last two shows, I played Daisie’s “Better Than Me” and Goon’s “Begin Here” – both of which are contenders for my 10 Best Songs of 2025.
What is something most people would be surprised to learn about you?
I spent two years in a convent as a nun.
