50 years ago today the Stonewall riots began in New York City, an event that holds enormous significance for the LGBTQ+ community. We had Scarlet Bowen, professor of women and gender studies at CU and director of education for CU Boulder’s Center for Inclusion and Social Change, in the studio to tell us more about those riots, there significance and some of the often overlooked elements the protests.
