Médecins Sans Frontières: A Voice From The Field

Suzanne Ceresko is a graduate of CU Boulder who for the last few years has been working with the international humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières.

She said her background in media allowed her to bring organizational skills to the organization “when I had said that I had worked in film production the recruiters ears perked up because they looked for people because they look for people who know how to do the kind of logistical work that they do on location in so many different countries.”  Ceresko has worked  with MSF in several countries including South Sudan, Syria and the Philippines. She’s currently in Colorado as part of the MSF On the Road Tour: A Voice from the Field. She speaks to the public about the mission of MSF and discusses the challenges of bringing life-saving medical care to the most dangerous and remote areas of the globe.

Ceresko says that South Sudan is one of the most challenging regions to work in due to the lack of infrastructure and the ongoing conflict. But she says that there are a number of challenges that MSF is working with “the number of crises that we need to respond to in the world – Syria, Yemen, South Sudan, Central African Republic and then of course the refugee crisis now that is at unprecedented levels.”
